Schluter Kerdi Line Linear Drain: Secure and Stylish Showers
Schluter-KERDI-LINE is a low-profile linear shower drain designed specifically for bonded waterproofing assemblies. This versatile drain can be installed adjacent to walls or at intermediate locations, enabling the use of large-format tiles and creating interesting design opportunities.
The KERDI-LINE consists of a formed stainless steel channel body and grate assembly or covering support. The channel body features a standard 2" (50 mm) no-hub outlet, allowing for a simple connection to the waste line using an appropriate mechanical coupling. This makes KERDI-LINE suitable for both new construction and renovation projects.
KERDI-LINE is available with both center and off-set outlets. The off-set outlet, located 8" (20.3 cm) from the edge of the channel body, provides flexibility when obstacles, such as floor joists, are encountered during installation. The perimeter of the channel body includes a bonding flange laminated with a KERDI collar, ensuring a secure and straightforward connection to the bonded waterproofing assembly.
The KERDI-LINE grate assembly offers seamless integration with the tile or stone covering, with adjustable heights ranging from 1/8" to 1" (3 mm to 25 mm) for standard grate assemblies and 1/4" to 23/32" (6 mm to 18 mm) for KERDI-LINE-STYLE grate assemblies. The standard grate assembly features a 3/8" (10 mm) wide reveal and can be combined with either SOLID (A) or SQUARE (B) grate options, available in a variety of finishes. The SQUARE (B) option also offers a locking mechanism for applications where tamper resistance is required.
The KERDI-LINE-STYLE grate assembly features a minimal reveal and can be combined with one of three grate options: FLORAL (E), CURVE (F), or PURE (G), all available in a brushed finish. For tile coverings of any thickness, the TILE grate (D) can be used, as it is a frameless, tileable covering support that sits flush with the top of the channel body.
When installing KERDI-LINE at the shower entrance, it is recommended to choose grate assembly A or the TILE grate, ensuring the drainage openings span the maximum width of the entrance to limit potential overflow. In such cases, secondary drainage, such as KERDI-DRAIN-F, may be required in the drying area.
Preparing for KERDI-LINE installation involves considering wall board thickness, leveling the floor, and connecting the channel body to the waste line. The channel body can be set in either loose mortar or the provided channel support, depending on the accessibility of the plumbing from below.
Schluter-Systems, founded in 1966, has a long history of innovation and leadership in the tile assembly industry. With over 40 product lines recognized and utilized globally, the company maintains its commitment to developing practical and effective solutions for tile installation challenges.
