Schluter DITRA-HEAT Membrane: Integrated Heating and Protection

Schluter-DITRA-HEAT integrates customizable, comfortable electric floor warming with the functions associated with DITRA: uncoupling, waterproofing, vapor management, and support to ensure a long-lasting installation.

Installation Instructions for Schluter DITRA-HEAT Membrane:

1. Apply a thin-set mortar suitable for the substrate using a 1/4" x 1/4" square-notched trowel.
2. Apply the DITRA-HEAT membrane, fleece side down, and solidly embed it into the mortar using a float, screed trowel, or DITRA-ROLLER.
3. Lift up a corner to check for full contact between the fleece webbing and the thin-set mortar.
4. Abut the end and side sections of adjacent sheets, aligning the studs on the top for easier heating cable installation.
5. Install the DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cables, then tile can be installed directly over the membrane using an unmodified thin-set.

Heating Cable Spacing and Applications:

• Standard cable spacing is 3 studs, with alternating 3-2 stud intervals to increase heat or use more cable length, especially over uninsulated concrete.
• Spacing over 4 studs is not recommended, as it may cause uneven temperatures.
• DITRA-HEAT-E-HK heating cables can be installed on the top surface of shower benches, with Schluter-KERDI applied on top.
• Other manufacturer's heating cables are not recommended for use with the DITRA-HEAT membrane, as the Schluter-DITRA-HEAT-E-HK cables are specifically designed for secure stud placement and integration.
